The truth is that I adored this musical. For the 48 hours I rented it, (that is, when I wasn't sleeping or working), I was playing the prisoner's song on repeat. There were a number of really great numbers that gave me a high! (Did I mention the prisoner's song?!) Musically, I thoroughly enjoyed the intro song, the prisoner's song, brotherhood of man, coranation song and it's possible that I'm forgetting some. I loved the king - hilarious! The jesters had a lot of personality that I really enjoyed over the course of the play. The prince was played by a phenomenal actress. The villain was really good... There really is a lot selling this for me. I gave it four stars because there was no overtly Jewish feeling to it and because there were parts that were not as well acted or sung to my high standards. But I would consider getting it again because the parts that were good were excellent. I would like to add, the more I think about it, the more it grows on me. I just really liked it.
Great, would love it to be a bit cheaper to rent for longer.
GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE BEST! Or as my little brother would say: "Its the bestest!"
I am watching this video again, having watched it countless times, and decided to write a review. It is such a beautiful play. Moving, dramatic story takes you inside the life of an English prince. Incredible acting. Stunning songs. Fascinating history depicting how disconnected the royalty were from the world. The two main characters touch the heart with their excellent performance. I personally also liked the song and drama of the prisoner, Lizzi Jones. (She then outdoes herself the next year in The Secret Garden as Dicken) All the Regal plays are wonderful but if you are choosing just one - then this is the very best.
It was a great play! The costumes were awesome and the story line was exciting. I would definitely recommend it!
