One on One with Shloime Taussig

JMR---ONE-on-ONE

Welcome to One on One, a new ongoing JMR feature, where we chill with some of the best known names in the Jewish music business and maybe even get them to share a tidbit or two about their lives.

For our first interview, singer Shloime Taussig takes a few moments out of his day to spend some quality time with you, our loyal JMR audience.

Jewish Music Report:  At what point in your life did you decide that you were going to become part of the Jewish music business?

Shloime Taussig:  Singing has been my passion since I was a kid.  I sang with choirs, at all the family weddings and by the time I was 20 or 21 I was singing professionally at weddings. I dreamed of doing a CD as a kid, but I never imagined it would really happen!

JMR:  What CDs are in the sound system in your car right now?

ST:  Uncle Moishy.  My daughter loves him!

JMR:  What is the craziest experience you have ever had in the music business?

ST:   Being a no-show at a wedding in Montreal after my flight was cancelling.  I kept trying to get another flight but it just didn’t happen.  It was the only wedding I didn’t make it to.

JMR:  What is your favorite breakfast cereal?

ST:    Actually, I don’t eat breakfast.

JMR:  What person has had the most influence in your life?

ST:   Probably my father.  Music wise, it would have to MBD, Fried, Carlebach and Yigal Calek.

JMR:  What do you have in your pocket right now?

ST:   A gartel.

JMR:  What did you want to be when you grew up?

ST:   I always had a dream of singing.  It is a joy, every night.

JMR:  If you could be any kind of fruit or vegetable, what would you be and why?

ST:   I don’t eat fruit or vegetables.  It is way too healthy.

JMR:  What is your all time favorite song/album?

ST:   No answer.  I reserve my right to stay silent

JMR:  What is the ringer on your cell phone?

ST:   I don’t have one.  I keep my phone on vibrate.

JMR:   If you were stranded on an island and could only have two things with you, what would they be?

ST:   A pillow and a blanket.

JMR:  Tell us an interesting fact or tidbit about yourself that isn’t public knowledge.

ST:   People ask me all the time what is the secret to singing when you don’t feel well.  My answer is that my microphone is my best medicine, of course, only with siyata dishmaya!
