For the first time ever the Miami Heat basketball team and the Florida Jewish community gathered for the First Annual Jewish Heritage Night on Tuesday, December 15th.
Jewish rock band 8th Day performed, and a giant Menorah was lit during half time at the American Airlines Arena in Miaimi.
The event celebrated the 5th night of Chanukah, and paid tribute to Florida’s Jewish community and the message of triumph of light over the darkness.
Guests had a unique opportunity to arrive before the onset of the game to meet and greet the players and watch the warm-ups. For the first time ever kosher food will be available at the AA arena. A giant Menorah was erected at the east plaza of the arena, and was lit during the half time. The Lubavitch Educational Center Boys Choir sang “Maoz Tzur.”
At the end of the game all guests were invited to the court for a Free Throw and Chanukah celebration.
