Shlomo HaMelech said it best in Koheles: “Lakol zman va’eys l’chol cheifetz tachas hashamayim” – everything has its season and there is a time for everything under the heavens. With Tisha B’Av rapidly approaching, we can’t just bring ourselves to talk about music. The Nine Days are, in the words of Koheles, an “eys livkos”, a time to cry. No matter how much a part of our lives music is, now is just not the time and place for it.
Let us hope that these Nine Days will be the last that we spend in sorrow.
