“We are way ahead of last year,” Yehuda Ceitlin, Creative Director of A Jewish Star singing competition, sain on Yossi Zweig‘s Z Report Show on the Wednesday Live Lunch featured on NachumSegal.com, referring to the early success of Season Two.
“While in Season One most of the auditions came in the last second – totalling 23 – this time we already have 20 contestants and another 11 kids contestants and the deadline is only Tuesday, December 28,” he noted.
Contestants for A Jewish Star Junior have sent in auditions from Coral Springs, Cincinnati, Buffalo, the Five Towns, Crown Heights, S. Monica in California, Netanya in Israel and Bellevue Hill in Australia.
While most of the adult contestant have come in from Brooklyn, some notable ones were sent from Kailua-Kona in Hawaii, Cambridge in Massachusetts, Miami Beach, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Johannesburg and two from London, England.
Ceitlin said that unlike last year, the Season Two finals show in Brooklyn College will feature 10 finalists singing live on stage with the judges (and possibly also the judges) choosing their 3 runner ups and then the winner.
Ceitlin told Zweig why Season One’s Boruch Sholom Blesofsky is not running again and reported that Season Two’s Menachem Weinstein has already garnered 238 comments on the web and over 100 “Likes” on Facebook.
When Zweig contemplated auditioning himself – to win a round trip ticket for 2 to Israel and a 2 year car lease – Ceitlin offered him a tip he heard from the legendary composer Yossi Green.
Ceitlin will also be a guest on Shalom America with Phil Fink on Sunday from 7-9 AM at WELW 1330 AM (Ohio) and on The Jewish Hour with Rabbi Herschel Finman on Sunday 11PM at WLQV 1500 AM (Detroit).
