Rogers Park is a Chicago based band. They are just as excited about music, as they are about boats filled with chocolate. The band consists of two leading vocalist Yosef Peysin and Mordy Kurtz who specialize in harmony and vocal anomalies, accompanied by fellow axemen and percussionists. Their music has a folky sound with a taste of slow rock and pop and definitely gets one moving and grooving. This past Succos they release a music video for their debut single entitled “Sukkah’s Falling.” In the video Sukkahs are falling, Lulavs are flying, and there are some sweet vocal harmonies in this visual treat plus a cameo by world renown Jewish comedian Mendy Pellin.
Rogers Park just recorded this moving rendition of Beggar Woman ft. Ruby Harris, a song composed by the late Jewish music star Moshe Yess, to whom their performance is in tribute. The song plus three others will be featured on their upcoming EP. The band performs mostly original compositions, as well as traditional and Yiddish songs interspersed with beautiful Hassidic storytelling. Rogers Park has recently been awarded and named Continuum Theatre’s “Best Chicagoland Jewish Band 2014″, as well as being featured on Israel National News and the Times of Israel.
Rogers Park will be performing two shows in Brooklyn next weekend. To see a full tour schedule check out their Facebook Page.
