Singer Yakir Cohen Celebrates His Debut Album With A Moroccan Compilation

by yossi August 29, 2016

Yakir Cohen was born in Tzfat, and from early on, he was the go to singer in the city. As a teenager, he was known for his beautiful melodies of shira and bakasha. From there he served as a chazan in a local shul and all over Israel.

Cohen’s uniqueness is reflected in his great knowledge of the Mkaamim theory alongside his full control of a variety of styles. In the afternoon, he can perform as a Moroccan singer and in the evening, as a Yerushalmi. It is truly a rare combination that is exciting to hear and see.

Recently, Yakir has been very busy with his debut album “ Mikol HaLev“. This album has and excellent range of hits, and Cohen is accompanied by the best musicians in Israel who took part in producing the album.

Today, in honor of his album launch, he is releasing a potpourri of Moroccan songs, consisting of ancient melodies with a modern twist.

Those in the know, are expecting tremendous success from Yakir Cohen, who only recently turned 24 and is very dedicated to his studies but is not abandoning his remarkable musical talents.
