Nothing like a little Carpool Karaoke to highlight Avraham Fried’s new album, Bring the House Down. The variety of songs appeals to all crowds, and listeners of all ages will enjoy the “ta’am” Avraham Fried brings to each track. Just a few highlights:
BRING THE HOUSE DOWN – There’s just something about this song that makes it fun to listen to. I appreciated the combination of rebuilding the Beis Hamikdash and “bringing the house down,” and the cheering crowd definitely agreed that this title track is a hit.
SHA’AREI D’MO’OS – Every year on Yom Kippur, these words strike a chord within me, and this song fits perfectly with the spirit of the Yomim Noraim. While I don’t usually appreciate chazzanus, the intensity of this song seems appropriate for the heartfelt plea that Hashem accept our Tefillos and tears on this holy day.
PLAYING WITH FIRE – No Jew can ignore that Pinte L’Yid, the Heavenly fire burning within. The song starts off slowly, gently, with a lively chorus that brings out the true simcha of Yiddishkeit.
HINENI B’YODCHO – Already a hit long before this album’s release, this song is a classic. I actually appreciated being able to read along in the album booklet while singing this song – I have to admit that I’ve been a bit creative with the words until now, and the beauty of the lyrics coupled with the magnificent arrangement place this song in a class of its own.
Avraham Fried’s magic touch make this an enjoyable album, whether you’re driving upstate or relaxing in your home… “Music has the power to inspire,” and this album did just that. May we be Zoche to Bring the House Down, b’mihayra b’yameinu, Amen!
