Breslov Bar Band: Have No Fear

by yossi June 18, 2010

From melancholy midnight meditations to funky/punky affirmations of the One, the Breslov Bar Band explores musical expressions of the Breslov Chassidim from the traditional to the contemporary… Rock, Middle-Eastern, Punk, Jazz… it’s all there!

The group’s repertoire includes old dveykus melodies and ecstatic nigunim, as well as contemporary Breslov folk and rock music. The band members combine their passion for Jewish music with their strong roots in rock, jazz, and world music

“Have No Fear” features creative contemporary arrangements of Breslov nigunim, often including the unique sound of Binyomin Ginzberg’s vibrandoneon, a mouth-blown variation on the classical Argentinean bandoneon, which adds an intriguingly exotic component to the group’s sound. The music is an organic blend of Klezmer, Rock, Middle Eastern, Jazz, Reggae, Punk, and other musical styles, played by internationally acclaimed musicians with deep roots in traditional music & wide-ranging contemporary musical influences.

The Breslov Bar Band puts on a high-energy show that is both visually and musically compelling. Members are powerful improvisers and each performance is unique.

The band members are:
Binyomin Ginzberg ( jewishusician.com/Binyomin Ginzberg Trio): vibrandoneon/keyboards/vocals
Yoshie Fruchter (Pitom, Yiddish Princess, Soulfarm): bass
Allen Watsky (SoCalled, David Krakauer, Abraham Inc. w/Fred Wesley): guitars
Rich Huntley (Natalie Merchant, HAZMAT Modine): drums
Mike Cohen (Music from Puti, Kleztraphobix): clarinet & bass clarinet
