Lubavitch Of Scotland Purim Dinner and Concert, Featuring Sholom & Shmuel Jacobs

There was not a seat to had at Carmichael Hall Glasgow for the 44th Annual Lubavitch Dinner and Concert. Stars of the show were Sholom Jacobs (son of Rabbi & Mrs Chaim Jacobs) of New York, his 8 year old son Shmuel, Yossi & Iris Attias of the Taste of Honey Trio London and Glasgows very own Violinist Lev Atlas. A gourmet meal was catered by L’Chaim’s Kosher Catering. The meal and evening was organized by Sora Jacobs with the help of her husband Chaim! A delicious selection of wines were being served throughout the evening.

Special guest Celtics midfielder Rami Gershon was part of the evening and was asked to pick the raffle. Rami is a regular at the Lubavitch ,Shul in the Park, led by Rabbi Mendel Jacobs. Rabbi Chaim Jacobs explained how Rami is a true example to many Jews in Scotland and throughout the world, always making sure to eat Kosher wherever he is, and putting on Tefillin daily, he is a proud Jew. From the moment people entered the hall until they went home everyone felt the very lively electric spirit of Purim with singing, dancing, entertainment, a fancy dress contest and a grand raffle. Ticket prices were kept to a minimum in order to welcome and include as many people of possible within the community. The event was sponsored by the Sholom and Jacobs Family Foundation who support numerous projects throughout the world, to promote Jewish awareness throughout the Jewish world.

During the day of Purim Lubavitch in Scotland reached people from all sections of the community. This included Lubavitch Bat Chayil girls visiting residents of Walton Court a local sheltered Housing complex to distribute Mishloach Monos to the residents.

They were helped by two Yeshiva Gedola students from London Levi Waren & Avrahom Golomb who helped with programs throughout the day. Lubavitch Shul in the Park held their annual Megila reading service at Barrland Court a housing complex for the elderly attended by many residents and members of Shul in the Park on Saturday Night and also on Sunday during the day. On Sunday all the men were delighted to put on Tefillin with Tefillin activist Rabbi Chaim Jacobs. During the day 200 Mishloach Monos gifts were distributed throughout the community especially to the elderly and the housebound. A visit was also made to the 30 clients at the Jewish Care Sunday club where gifts were also distributed.

At the Lubavitch Dinner and Concert Matonos L’Evyonim money was collected for Shaarei Zedek hospital and £110 was raised.
