Audio Interview: Mendy Werdyger talks to Mendel “the Sheichet” about new Yossele Rosenblatt CD

June 15, 2009 1 min read

Aderet Music has announced that they will be releasing the long awaited followup to the successful “Od Yosef Chai” CD of restored performances by undoubtedly the most famous Chazzan of all time, Reb Yossele Rosenblatt. Like “Od Yosef Chai” the followup album is a compilation of painstakingly professionally restored original hits from the benchmark by which all other Chazzanim have been measured for nearly a century. The new album, “Od Yosef Chai Volume 2”, is slated to be released on June 15th, 2009.

“Od Yosef Chai Volume 2” is the second release in the series of restored works of Yossele Rosenblatt, a project that is monumental both in importance as well as in time, money and effort spent. While others have attempted before to improve the sound quality of Reb Yossele’s recordings, none come close in matching the breadth or success of this project. International historical audio restoration experts were extensively consulted throughout the project. In addition to restoration of the original works, new instrumental and choral pieces were added to supplement and enhance the original recordings.

Mendy Werdyger, the head of Aderet Music, was personally involved in every step of the project. Mendy was recently interviewed by the Jewish Music Report’s Mendel “the Sheichet” Markel about this project.
