Last Sunday in Yeshivas Derech Hayashar in Afula, there was a Chanukas Beis Hamidrash “Heichal Shimshon“, in memory of Shimshon Delevkovitz. The Yeshiva is led by R’ Chaim Horovitz Shlita, and was started about 6 years ago by R’ Horovitz for boys who didn’t necessarily fit into the standard Yeshivos, and it combines Limmud Torah and skill building for various occupations and careers, with a lot of positive support and love for each and every student.
Rav Yitzchak Zev Grossman, Rav of Migdal Ha’Emek heard about this wonderful institution and invited Rav Horovitz to bring the Yeshiva to a proper building in the city of Afula. Rav Horovitz became acquainted with Shimshon Delevkovitz during his Daf Yomi shiur that he gave every night to a group of musical people, and Shimshon was a pillar of the group, sincerely and consistently taking part in the learning every single day.
Rav Horovitz desperately wanted to establish a Beis Medrash in his memory, after his untimely passing a few months ago, and so, at the beginning of this past week, with the opening of the Elul Zman in the Yeshiva, they had a Chanukas Beis Hamidrash and invited the mother and widow of Shimshon to come and take part.
Immediately afterwards all of the Yeshiva students came into the Beis Medrash for Maariv and Divrei Torah and Hisorerus from Rav Horovitz. During the course of the evening, Gershon Freishtat and his orchestra went up on stage to perform, together with Ohad Moskowitz, Daniel Ahaviel, and Itzik Dadya, bringing all of the students and people who live in the area into one big dance circle full of Simcha and D’veykus, in anticipation of the upcoming Yomim Noraim. At the end of the evening Yeled Peleh Netanel Gantz and Yeshiva student singer Meir Green joined on stage as well.
