Sappir are a newly formed music group that are taking Jewish world music to the next level.
Formed by Danny Bergson and Mitchell Goodman, they explore Jewish melodies, fusing together many different genres including Rock, Pop, Jazz and Acoustic. The result is music that is both inspiring and accessible to people of all backgrounds.
“Music has always been our passion. We just want to touch as many people as we can”.
The duo began playing small gigs with Danny singing and on acoustic guitar, and Mitchell on electric and acoustic guitars. Things very quickly took off from there. Every gig they played the audience would double, as they played bigger & bigger venues. After a sell-out concert in Manchester’s Sale Waterside Theatre the idea of an album was aired and Sappir was born.
They have worked with some of the best in the music industry (particularly Blueprint Studios) and have created a debut album that promises to deliver a sonic punch!
Although both qualified Rabbis, they actually come from very different musical backgrounds. Danny is a trained Cantor, singing in the Synagogue and other Jewish events. He has had extensive operatic training over the past 15 years (including tutors from Royal Northern College of Music and Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama).
Mitchell on the other hand has a strong background in guitar performance, teaching and session work. He specializes in melodic rock and is at home in pretty much every guitar genre going! He attended the Guitar Institute of Technology London where he quickly became known for his virtuoso abilities developing a busy roster of music students in London and abroad.
Together their sound is fresh and evocative. Their debut album “Echoes” brilliantly reflects the rich musical backgrounds and influences of both artists and presents a new, exciting sound to light up the genre! For more information check out their website sappirmusic.com .
