For Women only! Merav Brenner “Avo Beitecha”

The conductor of the popular women’s group “Hallel”, producer of the group’s album, presents her own solo album for women and girls. Verses from traditional texts are interwoven with original lyrics on personal and national issues. Hidden in songs of thanks to Hashem and prayers for the geulah is the challenge of doing one’s own hishtadlut, along with bitachon in Hashem. The album is sensitive, giving a perceptive insight into the daily life of a woman, a bat yisrael.

Merav, the mother of five, is married to Avinach who teaches in a hesder yeshiva; the album is their joint creation. As both of them are musical, the family spends most evenings playing piano, flute and guitar. “For years we played well-known songs, then gradually our own music started to evolve, we sang together, sometimes with the children, with no thought of offering it to the public.”

In preparation for the album, the couple chose their most unique material. “Avo Beitecha” is presented to the public “out of a desire to create, but no less than that” says the composer” it comes also out of a belief that there it is important for us to have artists that present high quality songs and music that every woman and girl can identify with…”.

Merav Brenner (nee Borochovitz) has played piano from a very young age, graduating to professional level and  teaching. Among her other musical ventures, she conducts, organizes and directs the women’s group “Hallel”. The success of both the group’s album and its performances proved to Brenner that there is both a need and a thirst for a new cultural experience – women’s music. “We rolled up our sleeves and got to work, and gradually got together a selection of songs we judged to be the finest from among the plethora of material offered.”

The debut performance of the album will take place, G-d willing, on Sunday 19th Kislev 5770 at 8 pm at the Sharet Hall, Rehov Chaim Ozer (municipal building), Petah Tikva.
