Eva is a Jewish girl who was orphaned in the Second World War, and
was raised by a Gentile peasant in the communist Ukraine of the
early 1950s.
One day a woman arrives introducing herself as Eva's real mother and
shows documents that verify this. She wants to take the girl with her
to Israel. The girl is torn between her adoptive mother and her
biological mother, but the strange behavior of the alleged biological
mother, as well as clues that Eva finds, make her wonder if she is
really her mother? If not, then who is she? And more importantly -
why does she want to take her?
