Gad Lior – Ofek Chadash

Gad Lior has been a Baal T’shuva for the past 25 years. He lives in Tzefas and is married with a large family. For the past 20 years he served as rosh yeshiva for baalei tshuvos and he lectured worldwide.
Since he started playing guitar at age 16, the guitar has accompanied him ever since. His first album was released 8 years after he became a baal tshuva. He composed for himself but his friends overheard his compositions and wanted his songs to be enjoyed by all. Their insistence led to the album Lchvod Borei Olam to be released. The album was well received and in the next few years he released some more albums.
His newest album reflects a deep process of spiritual growth that Gad experienced in the past few years. The songs speak of a young, Jewish Israeli that does not divide the nation into sectors, and has the power to accept people’s differences with love. The album cover, a talis with colored strings, each a different color that opens into many colors reflects this message. On the back of the album gad writes, “The Torah was written black on white, yet when Hashem created the world through the Torah, it was created with health and was extremely vibrant and colorful. To Hashem the colors do not pose a threat. On the contrary, they are a wonderful and colorful interpretation.”
Just like on his previous albums, Gad composed all the tunes on his own. The top musicians in Israel accompany him on this album, Amit Yitzchak, Eldad Citrin, Ilan Salem, Shmulik Daniel and more. He is also accompanied by the children of Ilan as well as his own children. Shuli Rand and Amir Benayoun were also involved in the album.
Gad is now out on tour, singing a variety of his songs on Chasidic teachings, stories of tzaddikim and other melodies.
