I am a fan of the acapella soul albums
I love the 3 tracks I bought.
When I buy an Ari Goldwag a capella CD, I look forward to beautiful vocal arrangements and lots and lots of Ari singing without interference. Sadly, most of the arrangements here have more of a leaning toward the imitation of instruments, and almost all of the accompaniment isn't even performed by Ari, which I feel really detracts from the CD. Furthermore, between the fake instruments and the preponderance of fast songs (and songs that start slow but don't stay that way) there's almost nothing on this CD that I'm personally comfortable listening to during sefira/the three weeks. :( While there are some excellent songs here, I wasn't so wowed by the song selection overall. Still, Ari Goldwag makes it all worth listening to, bringing out the best in every song. The awesomeness just before the 2-minute mark on Machar deserves particular mention. And composer Mordechai Brezel's singing debut is a very nice addition. Definitely not the best of the A Capella Soul series in my book, but I continue to have high hopes for the next edition (to 120!)
Amazing!!!! Smart idea I look forward for it every year
Shame this CD is not available in Israel!
