Romi was just 12 years old when the Holocaust ravaged his hometown of Pressburg. Through his resourcefulness and quick thinking, Romi managed to outwit the Nazis, ultimately saving numerous Jewish families. He provided essential support to those in hiding, including money and forged documents, enabling them to survive the Nazi regime. Despite being captured by the Gestapo at one point, Romi managed to escape and later joined a partisan group in Slovakia, actively participating in the resistance against the Nazis. His efforts as a partisan resulted in significant losses for the SS troops. After the war's end, Romi returned to Pressburg in search of his family.
