A breath of fresh air, but...

Am I the only one getting fed up with the absence of any real reviews on this website? People often give an album 5 stars because they like the singer, or the producer lived with them a few years ago, or other nonsensical reasons. About time someone did a proper review. First off, I think I get what Meilich was aiming at here. This is not a conventional Jewish Music album, which I think is good. Nowadays you pick up a Shwekey or Shloimi Gertner and the songs sound all too familiair, you can almost predict where they are going. This CD is far from that. The songs span all sorts of genres and styles, and Meiliche's singing style is anything but conventional. Personally I find some songs suit him better than others - let's just say he's an acquired taste. On songs like Avi Yesomem I wish the producers had reined him in a bit more, but hey. Having said that IMO song choice is even more important than voice. Someone like Yeedle who wasn't blessed with a voice as magnificent as his father still churns out solid albums year after year. So what about Meiliech's songs? First off, he composed every song on the album, which is impressive. We have the 4 established singles, Yomum, Venoihafoich, Ein Trop Vaser and Veohavtu, which I'm sure everyone has heard many times by now, and which I feel are mostly fantastic (Venoihafoich not as great as the others). The new 7 are a mixed bunch, but some really strong ones include Lichvod Shabbos, Bederech and Mi Yodea. Overall, a breath of fresh air, and worth the $10 download, especially if you fancy a change from the samey stuff out there.

Undecided

Looks like from the reviews that the album was a big hit in the U.K. Can anyone recommend to me which songs i should buy?
