Excellent Show!
The show was terrific in every way. I understand all the people who are disappointed that there are not more Jewish themed plays. The fact is though that we simply do not have people in the frum world who have the resources or even the inclination to write a full musical with an engaging story, a clever and compelling script and a beautiful musical score. The talent of the director, actresses and singers, while certainly very impressive, is not enough to compensate for a shoddy script and score. The Rachel’s Place plays would then be like a regular Bais Yaakov play with better acting and singing. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch these plays and they do their best to make it as kosher as possible. For Jewish women and girls who won’t watch movies or go to non Jewish plays but who really crave professional entertainment, these plays have really served a purpose. You can’t have everything in life nor can you demand it so if it does not meet your standards, don’t watch it. If you are ok with it though, and it is certainly a lot better than non Jewish entertainment, then you are in for a treat because this play as well as all their other plays are fabulous. Don’t fool yourself though and think that you are going to come away with some kind of moral lesson. You won’t. Take it for what it is or don’t. But let us not criticize one another please.
